Self-care tips for International Women’s Day are a must to celebrate yourself in the best way possible.

As I am getting older I realize the importance of taking care of you as a woman even more. Let’s be real for a second, we manage to achieve the unachievable every day without even realizing it.

We take care of our children, our family, our home, our jobs and the list goes on. But what about us? Do we ever stop to admire the work we do, give ourselves credit -and a clap, why not?- or are we always “drowning” in our own thoughts on how we could do things better?

Or even worse, how can we achieve even more while sacrificing our mental health? Well, this has to stop. And it can only be done by showing ourselves love by actively scheduling little daily breaks for just us.

These 5 self-care tips are things you can do anytime to boost your self-esteem, feel less overwhelmed and be one step closer to a better you.

I’m all about practicality and not just theory so these are the best tried and tested things that work and you should do for International Women’s Day and everyday!

    Tip 1: Prioritize Rest

Yes, yes, I’m well aware of how difficult this is but it’s also extremely important. If you can’t have you at your best condition possible, how you expect to be good in all of your daily tasks?

I used to be guilty on this and “punish” myself for not having done everything I had on my to-do list by overworking, resulting in me feeling burnt out. You don’t want this, do you?

How to incorporate some much needed rest in your day? By planning it. Whenever I said I’ll leave for a 10-minute walk after 2 hours stuck on my laptop I never did it. But if you write it down to your schedule like all the other things? You WILL do it!

And rest isn’t only taking a mini break here and there. You can think of anything that sets you in a good mood. Is it yoga? Walking? Relaxing for 15 minutes with a book? A cup of coffee without your laptop in front of you? Do you, but do it!

It makes such a difference throughout the day. Are you with me?

Tip 2: Schedule Time To Exercise

I know I’m all about beauty, fashion and material things but no matter how good these stuff look in my eyes, I know that true wealth is hidden in more simple things -and much cheaper also- such as exercise.

Who cares for a pair of expensive high heels if I can’t be healthy in the long-term? The best and most important gift to give yourself this International Women’s Day is hands down exercise.

The key here is to find things you like and again put them into your weekly to-do. There are no excuses here. Been there done that. I love my bed so much in the mornings but still wake up early to start my day with weights.

My future self will thank me for sure. So find something and get on with it. Walking, biking, running, gym or a sport who cares? As long as you do it even for 20 minutes a day you won!

Tip 3: Write Down The Best Parts Of Your Day

Ok, now this is a true self-care tip that works and keeps on giving as you stay consistent with it.

This will help you when you’re feeling too overwhelmed with life in general. When you’re feeling like you do everything wrong, when you think you lost control, when everything seems bad.

We are humans, we can’t expect to always feel amazing, productive, motivated and in the best mood. But, with this little -and simple- tip you will start seeing all the things that are happening to you from the positive perspective.

How to do it? Find 5 minutes at the start or the end of each day and write down quickly what went well in your day. I prefer doing it in bed at the end of my day on my phone. If you prefer a notebook, even better.

We tend to focus so much on negative things like “work was awful today”, “this person told me this”, “I wasn’t a good mother” etc that we forget all the little happy details or achievements we experienced.

Writing down all your small -or big- wins everyday, things that made you happy, proud & excited is the key to happiness. The best part? You can go back and read all these notes when you’re feeling stressed for something and it will instantly change your mood.

I love writing down simple things like my health and my family’s, that I had the best conversation with someone and felt good, that I handled a difficult situation with my toddler with maturity, that I enjoyed every sip of my coffee, that I managed to do 1 hour of focused work although everything else was falling apart.

Write down all these details, see the difference and thank me later.

    Tip 4: Pamper Yourself

Would it be a “Self-Care Tips To Celebrate International Women’s Day” post without pampering? I don’t think so!

Tip number 4 is all about pampering yourself. Think about everything that you wanted to do for so long but never found the time and just do it now.

Is it a massage, a manicure, a hair appointment, a bath or a facial? Go now and book it! Have you ever thought the power of treating yourself like this? Even if you do it once a month it will give you the confidence & relaxation you need.

For me it will be hair for sure. I feel like a new person every time!

    Tip 5: Call A Friend

My last but not least tip for this Women’s Day is to call a friend of yours or someone you love.

Day to day life makes us distant from people because we have a lot going on. But humans need humans to feel good. We need other people although we tend to forget it.

No time for a call? Start a conversation by sending a funny tik tok video and exchange a few messages with your bestie. This will help you feel way better and add a more light note on your life.

Things that seem “too dark” always lighten up with a conversation. Who will you call?
