    look good with less makeup

Want to look good with less makeup? I feel you! Me too, and that’s why I’ve perfected the minimal makeup routine throughout the years and I’m going to share with you my best tips.

I don’t know if you came here because you don’t have time and you need to look good quickly, if you came here because too many makeup products frustrate you or you’re just fed up with how cakey your makeup looks during the day.

Whatever your reason may be, you’re on the right place! In the end of this post you’ll surely have a better idea on how you can look amazing by being more “yourself” rather than being hidden behind 20 layers of unnecessary makeup.

    Let’s go!

Best Tips On How To Look Good With Less Makeup

    Light Base

Ok now, how often do you see girls or women with heavy foundation under the sun? It’s not a good look, is it?

The first step in achieving a fresh makeup look is to use less product on your skin. So if you love foundation, start using a super small amount and blending it out very well.

A wet beauty blender or a beauty sponge in general is your best friend on that. I never use a brush for my skin as I’ve never found one that makes my makeup look so natural as a wet sponge does.

And do you know what’s even better than foundation? A lightweight BB cream or tinted moisturizer. These kind of products even out the skin in the most natural way and create that “your skin but better” outcome.

This allows you to cover imperfections with a good concealer and keep the rest of your skin glowy and youthful. My top choice is the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer; it stays there all day and is highly pigmented.

On my simple daily makeup routine I only use my trusted La Roche-Posay Effaclar Unifiant Duo+ in Light. If You have oily or acne prone skin like me this is your savior!

It covers lightly and also treats blemishes because it contains Niacinamide and Salicylic Acid. Perfection!

But feel free to use whatever works for your skin type.

    Use Cream Makeup Products

My next tip that will make a ton of a difference on how you’ll look good with less makeup is hands down the cream or liquid products.

I noticed this from the days where I needed to get ready as quickly as possible and used them on bare skin.

You can literally apply a small amount of liquid bronzer and add juiciness & definition in an instant. Once these products are blended in no-one can tell if this is your healthy glow or the newest Charlotte Tilbury launch!

My top choices for that is the Rodial Bronze Glowlighter for an all over bronzed glow. This is my favorite choice for everyday as it’s super thin and easy to blend. You can use this like your regular bronzer (forehead / cheeks / nose) or mix a bit into your tinted moisturizer for a bronze goddess look if you feel too pale in the morning.

My next pick is the Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick in Biscuit; a luxurious contour stick that again adds un-detectable definition whether you choose to add a base underneath or you’re completely bare faced. If you prefer a more contoured look this is brilliant and so easy & quick to use. The shade Biscuit is amazing as it’s the ideal tone; not too warm nor too cool.

Both products are fab as an eyeshadow too. Perfect all over the lid wash of color and chic as well. Love them!

As for blush, my top picks are the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Blush Wands; an oily girl’s -and not only- heaven. Long-wearing, blendable, awesome!

And for a creamier -whipped like- consistency I’d choose the addictive Saie Dew Bluch from Saie Beauty in Peachy. Plumped cheeks in a bottle!

    Correct Only What “Needs” Correcting

If you think about what is the purpose of makeup, it is exactly this. To help us feel & look good by slightly correcting what “needs” correction like blemishes. And of course to enhance our natural beauty and what we already have.

It’s not there to change what we are or to make us look worse by over applying it.

The key here is to use makeup products where we need it. For example I use concealer on my blemishes and spots, I’m not packing the rest of my skin with heavy coverage.

And for my eyes? As they are a bit down turned, I always draw a tiny cat-eye flick with a brown eyeshadow in the outer corner. I don’t need a smokey eye to achieve this.

So check yourself in the mirror and see what needs a little help? Then use makeup only for that. If you have amazing long curly eyelashes why bother with mascara? I’d definitely skip it for the day.

    Stay Away Of Bright Colors

Let’s keep it simple on that. You don’t need bright and bold colors to look pretty. You are beautiful just the way you are.

False eyelashes and purple eyeshadow won’t add to your natural features. And since most people aren’t skilled enough to use them correctly, you simply end up with a bad result. Not everyone has Lisa Eldridge’s or Pat McGrath’s magic hands, right?

On the other hand, neutral, fresh and bronzy colors can actually make you look good with less makeup.

And I don’t say you should always stay away from a good old bomb night time makeup look, but instead know your worth and how to “promote” it the right way.

You can look good with little makeup no matter your skin color, gender or age. You earn a lot of your precious time back and believe me or not you get more confident too.
