• Violette FR Review: A Minimalist’s Dream

    violette fr review

I’ve waited to write this Violette FR review for way too long and my excitement levels were out of the roof until my order finally arrived. I was watching closely the brand as it sparked my interest due to its -minimalistic with a spice- and unique approach. Product after product my desire to try them was even bigger.

The final thing that hit me hard was when they came out with Bisou Balms. Like, have you seen the photos? As a matte & barely there color lipstick lover, Bisou Balms made my heart sing. I was constantly on their site to check if I can order in Greece without a happy outcome.

Until the day arrived when Violette announced on Instagram that they ship to Greece too. You know what I did, right? Made the order of my dreams. Two Bisou Balms and two Yeux Paints; their liquid eyeshadow version.

    Violette_FR First Impressions

I think it is fair enough to start my Violette FR review by saying my first impressions as I opened my package.

I kid you not, it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this happy about makeup products. They are so aesthetically pleasing and look simple yet elegant that I could easily stare at them all day -and yes, I am that crazy.

Apart from that, they inspire me to do my makeup and why not, try different ways or techniques of doing it. Great, right?

    Violette FR Bisou Balm Review

The brand describes Bisou Balm as a sheer matte lipstick that you can layer to add more color, or use it as a light tint on the lips.

My opinion is that they are exactly that. I was dreaming a product like this for years. If you search the market and know what is happening you’ll notice that most tinted balms have a shiny, satiny or glossy finish. That’s not bad at all, but I don’t usually like this consistency as I want something that stays longer on my lips and looks more natural.

On the other hand, Bisou Balms are the opposite; completely matte and natural looking yet moisturizing. One of their kind for sure. A product that was surely missing from the beauty department.

My favorite thing about them is that they give definition on the lips and still look like you’re not wearing anything even from up close. The second big plus for me are the colors. Everyday shades, easy to throw in your bag, easy to apply even without a mirror, beautiful options for everyone. Universally flattering. Love them!

    Bisou Balm In Calisson

I got the nude shade -of course I would, come on- Calisson; a beautiful neutral shade not too warm nor too cool but perfectly in the middle. I would describe it as a beig-y, peachy nude that brightens up the face from the first swipe.

Beautiful shade for everyday and a great option to balance out a bold eye makeup look. I love pairing it with a glitter eye look or a smokey eye. It makes the whole look appear more effortless.

    Couldn’t love it more!

    Bisou Balm In Bêtise

The second shade that I’ve picked is Bêtise; a cherry “just bitten lips” shade. Bêtise is the ultimate option for girls that love a red lip but don’t want to be full-on early in the morning.

It looks amazing with mascara and bronzer or a warm toned makeup look with camel shadows on the eyes and neutral cheeks. The perfect light pop of color for day or night.

There is also a third shade in the range called Guimauve which is more on the orange side but unfortunately wasn’t in stock when I’ve made my order.

    Violette FR Yeux Paint Review

I love eyeshadows that are easy, quick and are able to create a one-color eye look so you are good to go.

I also love a tiny packaging to bring with me when traveling and can easily fit in my makeup bag. Never say never, but I think you’ll never see me with a huge eyeshadow palette.

Violette_FR Yeux Paints didn’t disappoint. Small packaging and colors to die for. I prefer the mattes as a great all over color on the eyelids and the twinkling both as an all over color or a colorful eyeliner.

Violette FR Yeux Paint In Petite Culotte

When I saw the shade Petite Culotte I just couldn’t resist. Dreamy light beige-pinky-brown color great for everyday. That’s for sure my kind of thing.

I must say that I’m extremely amazed with its formula. It lasted ALL day on my oily eyelids without creasing. And when I say that, consider that I never use an eyeshadow primer and the temperature in Greece is at 36°C (96.8°F) daily. Everything just melts off your face but not Yeux Paint. Now that’s a real test, isn’t it?

You only need a small amount and your finger or a blending brush. The color is super matte, blends easily and looks amazing. I’m truly impressed.

Violette FR Yeux Paint In Scarabée d’Or

Described as “the perfect blend between green and gold”, Scarabée d’Or is like wearing a colorful beetle on your eyes.

This color is insane. I wore it as a liner and it’s the perfect change from the classic black/brown colors. Using it as a liner is definitely a way to wear it more subtly. I’ll also try it as an all over color on the lids to see if I’m comfortable with this as well.

The color payoff is again unbelievable.

    Final Thoughts About The Brand

I must say that I never thought that Violette could do something “bad” in terms of quality but definitely exceeded my expectations. Generally, it is a great brand and I’m looking forward to see what the future brings.

I’m surely enjoying my products and I will keep using them daily. If you love a minimal, unique approach, products that work, bold or subtle options then Violette_FR is for you.
